Debt Quencher App Reviews

11 Customer Reviews:

With 6 credit cards to pay down, I was pleased to see a well designed program, which at its nexus tells us how much we save with one of the 4 plans. Very motivational. Very nice Help Instructions. Very well laid out. It is very useful to have all this information in a self sufficient program, rather than trying to figure this out in Excel or Numbers. We have 30 years experience in finance between us and we give this App all 5 stars.

I like the Mac layout and help section. Spent an hour looking at this program doing "what if" scenarios with my two loans while entering various payment amounts. Just what I was looking for. Apparently, I bought this at 66% off at $4.99. I would not have bought this had it been the $15 "regular" price since I feel that is too much for what the program does. Maybe if the programmer also included graphs of data, then maybe he/she could feel justified to ask $15. I would recommend with 5 stars if the regular price was $4.99.

A great little app but one critical feature is missing. It would be nice under the "Make Payments" to be able to deselect multiple credit cards instead of individual cards.

I bought this through the AppStore without knowing there was a free trial available through their website. Had I tried it out first, Im not sure if I would have bought it. I do plan on giving it a fair shake before giving up on it. First off, their website is almost unusable, there is no email address for support, and their forum is dedicated to their other program. Even searching for Debt Quencher returns results for the other program. I tried to post this there, but got stuck in an endless loop of "Are you sure this thread doesnt already exist?" showing me two completely unrelated posts. The good part of this program is it automates what many free XL spreadsheets out there do, so you dont have to re-enter all of the information every month. That alone is worth the $4.99. And it will track your progress, which is nice to see. Overall, I like it. There are three additional features which I would really like to see in a program like this: 1. Show all suggested payments for the month using the chosen plan. Right now, you can only see the payments for each item as you select it. I would really like a screen, or even just a column in the top view, that shows what I need to pay this month to keep on the track Ive selected. 2. Add in the ability to sort by column, which would allow me to see the cards in order of when in a given month they are due. It would be nice to allow me to create a custom Payoff Method to bump up card payoff priority for whatever reason. 3. Add in a reminder of when each bill is due: email or alert notification. Perhaps an export to iCal? Allow me to set the number of days before I need a reminder. Thats it! Thanks for listening.

There is potential here but the developers arent realizing it. I have found spreadsheets for free on the internet that offer more information and options for the best way to tackle credit card debt. Take this app and mix it with Chronical and you may have something special but as it is, I cannot recommend.

There are a couple pieces of information that this program NEEDS that tend to pull ones head out of the sand: 1. The CURRENT BALANCE (on each card), and 2. The APR for each card; the banks tend to bury that piece of information in order to lull you into making minimum payments. After this basic data entry, the applications shows the length of time it will take to eliminate the TOTAL DEBT, and suggests a "BEST" STRATEGY for saving money or hassle (it may make more sense to eliminate LOWEST BALANCES first so that there are fewer bills to worry about and no chance of a late payment - it depends on your particular situation). Also, "what if" scenarios are easy to run, and usually the effects of paying an additional $10, $20, etc. beyond the MINIMUM payment are quite dramatic. Id rather have a simpler, less expensive application than one that does pie charts and/or graphs; its easy enough to understand the total number of payments required and the month and year that youll be DONE.

Good, but some improvements

Good program- however I need to show twice a month payments, cant find a way to change that- I pay twice a month on most of my debt.

Nice app but unlike many others, it does not allow for view by sortable columns, only through the payoff methods. For example, for “Day” it should allow the user to put them in order so that the user can keep track of upcoming due dates. Everything else is pretty solid.

I kinda like the program debt quencher so far; but I have only been using it for a few days. The website is pretty much usless for this program and is more geared toward Moneywell. There are no videos or really not much info on this program. It would be nice if the columns on the main screen would be clickable so I could rearrange by day of month payment is due or by Alphabeticly, Apr,Planned payment, etc. I dont want to change the order i am paying off debts just different veiws of the columns. Maybe some pie charts?

After 1st buying the program I entered all my information. Program would not save the file. After several email Kevin LaCoste suggested I trying saving to the desktop and then move the file into my folder of choice. i saved a blank file because I did not want to enter all my info again an lose it. The file saved ok to my desktop. SO, I decided to enter all my info again. After spending 2.5 hours researching and entering all the info requested, I ask the program to save the file. The program crashed and I lost everything again. THIS PROGRAM IS NOT WORTH ANY COST ASK. DO NOT BUY
